You typed a question a buyer would ask and got 3 names, none of them yours. Here is why that happens and what changes it.
- The assistants read the same pages a buyer reads. If those pages do not say what you do and where, nothing else helps.
- Blocking AI crawlers in robots.txt is a common self inflicted wound.
- Directories and review sites are often the pages assistants cite. Be in them.
- Measure before and after. A scan a week is enough to see a change.
What is at stake
When an AI Overview sits above a result, the top result loses 34.5 % of its clicks. About 60 % of searches end without another website visit. And the visits that do come from AI search convert 4.4 times as well, measured by conversion rate. Fewer visits, better visits, and the names inside the answer decide who gets them.
1. Your site blocks the crawlers
Many sites carry a robots.txt rule that blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot, often added by a plugin or a well meaning agency. An assistant that may not read your site cannot recommend it from your site. The free scan shows the blocked agents by name.
2. Your pages do not say what you do
"We create experiences" is not a service. "Physiotherapy in Hamburg Eimsbüttel, appointments within 3 days" is. Assistants match buyer questions to sentences. Write the sentence a buyer would want to find, on the page, in text.
3. Nothing says where you are
Local questions carry a place. If your address is an image in the footer, it does not exist for an assistant. Put the address in text, in structured data as a LocalBusiness with a street, and name the city on the service pages.
4. You are missing from the sources they cite
Look at the sources in your report. Directories, review sites and industry lists get cited again and again. If you are not in the ones the assistants cite for your industry, you are missing from the shortlist before it is written.
5. Thin pages
A services page with 3 lines and a stock photo gives an assistant nothing to quote. One real page per service, with what it includes, what it costs or how pricing works, and who it is for, is one of the biggest levers after the crawler block.
The order to fix them
Unblock the crawlers. Write the sentences. Add the place. Fill the directories. Then measure again a week later. The scan ranks these for your site by lever and ease, so you are never guessing which one comes first.
Questions
How long until a change shows?
Days to weeks. Assistants with web search see a page change quickly; the assistant's own index takes longer. The weekly run is how you see it without checking by hand.
Can you guarantee a mention?
No. Nobody can. We show you what measurably works, then we measure it again.
